June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, a day that recognizes Elder Abuse as a significant social issue and brings together individuals, community organizations, and public officials to combat the abuse and neglect of older adults so that they can live with dignity, respect, autonomy, and support.
Seniors First BC will be participating in several events this week:
- “The Value of Social Connections” as part of the City of Surrey’s Focus on Seniors Webinar

In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, this webinar will provide information on what elder abuse is, what it looks like and what can be done to help. Seniors First BC will be presenting alongside from Fraser Health, Crime Stoppers, BC Association of Community Response Networks, and Brella Community Services Society (formally Seniors Come Share Society).

- Surrey RCMP Speaker Series: Elder Abuse – See Something, Say Something

Hosted by the Surrey RCMP Community Programs Team, Seniors First BC will be presenting alongside Crimestoppers to raise awareness about elder abuse, how to recognize it, and how to report it to minimize risk to loved ones.
