30 Year Anniversary Event Photo Highlights!

Here are some highlights from our 30 Year Anniversary Event last night! It was a fantastic and well-attended evening at the YWCA Hotel in Vancouver, featuring inspiring speakers who shared insights into the past, present, and future of our organization.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating 30 years of assisting BC seniors through information, legal advocacy, and support alongside our community partners.

You can be part of our journey over the next 30 years by supporting our 30 For 30 Campaign—visit our website to learn how. Here’s to many more years of making a difference in the lives of BC seniors! seniorsfirstbc.ca/donate/30for30

The event was hosted by Lin Chen, the former manager of our Public Education and Outreach Program, and was livestreamed for participants over Zoom.
Our program began with an insightful discussion from Pearl McKenzie, Founding Member and the first Executive Director, and Marie-Noël Campbell, current Executive Director, about the developments of Seniors First BC over the past 30 years, and a look forward to the next 30 years. The discussion was moderated by Alison Leaney, the Director of Adult Guardianship and Community Engagement at the Services to Adults Division of the Public Guardian & Trustee of BC.
Our community partners and allies were featured in a short video discussing the need for services for BC seniors for the next 30 years. The video features:
Dan Levitt, BC Seniors Advocate
Heather Treleaven, Executive Director of the BC Association of Community Response Networks
Alison Silgardo, Chief Executive Officer of the Seniors Services Society of BC
Jenny Kwan, M.P. Vancouver East

Several of our program staff shared stories and updates from our programs, including Nighat Afsar, Senior Legal Advocate, and Tina Chang, Seniors Abuse & Information Line and Victim Services Program manager.
Edward Macaulay, Board President, presented the Board Leadership Awards to Eric Clavier, former Board President, and Margaret Ostrowski, K.C., former Vice President. Both Eric and Margaret have held key leadership roles in their time on the Board since 2018, and we are deeply grateful for their outstanding contributions and dedication to BC seniors.
