Healthy Aging Summit

Seniors First BC joined 500+ attendees from community and social service agencies around BC for the 2026 United Way Healthy Aging Summit, held Oct 27–28 in Richmond. We hosted a resource table and connected with agency staff from all regions for information exchanges about programs and services, and to explore future collaborations such as delivering SFBC presentations. SFBC staff also attended speaker sessions on a wide range of topics, including: Collaborating & Building Effective Partnerships, Building Supports in Remote Communities, Spaces and Services for 2SLGBTQIA+ Seniors, Mental Health Conversations, Innovative Housing for Aging-in-place, Seniors Transportation, Men’s Sheds, and Co-creating Dementia Inclusive Communities.

Marie-Noel Campbell (SFBC Executive Director & Staff Lawyer) joined a panel of speakers to discuss “Aging in Place Starts with Housing: Building Community Solutions to Senior Homelessness”. The focus of this discussion was to introduce SHINE, a city specific, community-based network model that brings municipalities, housing providers, landlords, health and social service organizations, researchers and community partners together to help seniors move from housing insecurity to stability. Seniors First BC partners with SHINE (Seniors Services Society) to run Advance Planning legal clinics in a number of communities around BC.

Thank you to the United Way for hosting another very successful event!
